Swedish engineering and oddball Middle Eastern politics brought about the obscure but really interesting Rasheed (or Rashid) carbine.

As detailed by the American Rifleman installment above, the Rasheed looks like a wonky SKS and even fires the same round (7.62x39mm), but its a derivative of the Hakim Rifle which itself is a take off of the Swedish AG-42B Ljungman battle rifle.

Few of the ‘Sheeds are loose in the wild as only something like 6500-8000 were made and that was 60+ years ago, but this direct-impingement wooden stocked carbine is kinda neat if you come across one.
