Students from an East Texas high school are receiving praise after they stopped on the side of the road Thursday to pay respects for a constable who was being buried that day.

The Wildcats baseball team from the Mount Enterprise Independent School District was on their way to a game when they noticed the funeral procession for Shelby County Precinct 5 constable Stanley Burgay leaving the civic center. The school bus carrying the teens then pulled over and the coaches, as well as the students, exited the bus and stood alongside the road, with their hats removed, as the procession passed.

Following the game, several officers from the Center Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety treated the teens to ice cream.
