(Before It's News)

In the 1990s, the Central Intelligence Agency developed Charlie, a robotic catfish, to explore the feasibility of unmanned underwater vehicles.

The UUV fish contains a pressure hull, ballast system, and communications system in the body and a propulsion system in the tail. It is controlled by a wireless line-of-sight radio handset.

Charlie-1 Charlie-2

So, should you be afraid? Probably yes.

  • Now it’s in a museum because Fukushima killed all the Pacific Ocean fish so this thing looked WAY out of place.

These days they use a huge realistic replica of a dead whale floating upside down, which fits right in.
