(Before It's News)

A homeless man staying in San Francisco will receive $100,000 from a $150,000 reward for the part he played in helping authorities capture two wanted fugitives back in January.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to award Matthew Hay-Chapman a portion of the money. The remaining $50,000 will be split between two Target employees, who noticed Hossein Nayeri and Jonathan Tieu in the store acting suspicious, and a man whose van was stolen by the fugitives after they responded to a Craigslist ad about the vehicle, took it for a test drive and never returned.

Hay-Chapman said he recognized the stolen van from a description he read in the newspaper, and pointed authorities to it.

“He said he had a duty to bring these individuals back into custody,” said Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer. “That was really cool. A lot of people are afraid if they participate, they will get hurt.”
