Phx Councilman Michael Nowakowski: Dead man walking
Liberals stifle First Amendment Freedoms
Things haven’t been going so well for Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski of late. As if his serious problems arising from conflict of interest shenanigans on an $8.5 million downtown Phoenix land deal aren’t bad enough for the District 7 Democrat, he has offended the easily miffed homosexual community, who are now calling for him to resign his council seat for what they deem offensive remarks. Feeling his political walls closing in, Nowakowski has apologized for comments he made to a group of pastors (Video) regarding same-sex marriage.
His waffling on he issue of transgendered folks using public bathrooms also doesn’t cut it with the strident minority. They want his head on a platter, or at least his butt out of his council seat. Not for his shady land deals, but for stating that he “never thought I would see the day that men and men would be married or that people were allowed to go into the same bathroom as my daughter. This world is changing and it’s time for us to take the leadership and change it back to the way it should be.” Video of his comments here.

For uttering the politically incorrect statements, his fellow liberals on the City Council — Laura Pastor, Kate Gallego and Daniel Valenzuela — have condemned Nowakowski, as has liberal Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo. He’s been denounced by former supporter James McLaughlin, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 99.
The executive director of the Maricopa County Democrat Party also called for Nowakowski’s resignation as has Equality Arizona, a homosexual rights group.
In 2012 Seeing Red AZ covered Michael Nowakowski’s scheme to have the city issue ID cards to illegal aliens residing in Phoenix. Although he carries a Polish surname, Nowakowski identifies as Hispanic. Notice that his Hispanic cohorts are the first to call for his resignation.
There’s no doubt his political days are numbered.
