In late February, conservative Louisiana sheriff Normand Newell publicly criticized “that idiot” Gov. Bobby Jindal for leading his party and his state off a fiscal cliff and courting social catastrophe, and urged his peers to abandon GOP obstructionists and forge a new political contract.
