The TurkeyBlocks internet censorship monitoring team has confirmed that Turkish ISPs including have once again censored Twitter and Facebook, following a third major explosion in Ankara at 18:35 Sunday 13 March.
The new blocks came around an hour after a major explosion in Turkey capital Ankara. Data indicates that several ISPs have already implemented the censorship as a rapid response to the attacks.
Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) has once again ordered an immediate blanket media ban on reporting relating to the Ankara bombing incident. Based on previous censorship incidents, it is believed that a rapid response system may now be in place to automatically block social media services upon request by the government.
