The Magnetic Field Did Not Collapse This Week
SuspiciousObservers explains that the recent frenzy over a complete shutdown of the planets magnetic fields is nothing to worry about and is a known anomaly that occurs at this time of year on the graphs & charts pertaining to the magnetosphere.
Ben himself made this error back in 2012 and explains that it would be very easy for him to jump on this topic and get over a million hits for it – but the data is not indicative of a magnetosphere collapse and refuses to mislead the public despite the $$$ it would bring in views.
As I had originally suspected, if the shields do go down, we would not even be here to discuss it!
