Man fatally shot after threatening estranged wife (VIDEO)
A 37-year-old man is dead after he went to his estranged wife’s home in Phelps, Kentucky, Monday morning and threatened her.
Deputies received a 911 call from Pamela Smith, who informed authorities she shot Terry Briggs after he gained entry into her home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors said they were shocked to hear about the shooting. One woman, who did not wish to appear on camera, told reporters Smith was “a real nice girl” and she previously met Briggs, who she said also appeared to be a decent guy.
Police say Briggs had an active Domestic Violence Order against him at the time of the shooting. Details indicate the order was granted following an assault against a woman who was identified only as his girlfriend. Briggs was accused of choking and punching the woman in the face.
