Imagine holding a US election one day with no one showing up. Pew Research (PR) shows less than one in five Americans trust government.

Three-fourths say most elected officials serve their own interests, not popular ones. Over half believe ordinary people would do a better job solving problems.

According to PR, “the American public is deeply cynical about government, politics and the nation’s leaders” for good reason.

Trust in government is “among the lowest levels in the past half-century.” Elected officials are called self-serving and dishonest.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll showed “presidential front-runners increasingly unpopular.”

Clinton declined steeply in recent weeks – 56% of US voters viewing her negatively, only 32% positively, compared to a month earlier “when 51% viewed her negatively and 38% positively.”

Trump is viewed most negatively “with 65% of registered voters viewing him unfavorably and 24% favorably” – yet throughout the primary season, he’s gotten millions more votes than GOP rivals.

Cruz is disliked by around half of US voters, only one-fourth viewing him positively.

Sanders is viewed more positively than negatively – 45 – 36%, less than half the electorate, hardly a mandate.

Among Democrats, Clinton is viewed positively by a three-to-one margin (63% – 20%). Trump’s favorability/unfavorability rating among Republicans is even at 42% – Cruz at 45% positive compared to 27% negative.

The poll was taken in mid-April among 1,000 registered voters. It’s a long time from now to July nominating conventions and November elections. Lots can change.

Voters aren’t angry enough. No matter how many times they’re betrayed, they’re easy marks to be duped again.

Monied interests are served exclusively, popular ones entirely shut out.

Voting is a waste of time. Dirty business as usual always wins. Not a dime’s worth of difference separates Republicans from Democrats on issues mattering most.

Money controlled duopoly power runs America, a rigged system too debauched to fix.

It’s high time ordinary people opted out en masse, voted with their feet by taking to the streets instead of polling stations.

Popular grassroots revolution alone can change things. Nothing else can work.
