Obama Tries to Bully Britain into Staying in the E.U.
Earlier this week, Obama had an op-ed published in the in the Daily Telegraph, which urged Britons to stay in the EU and vote against a Brexit in the upcoming the June 23rd referendum. “The European Union doesn’t moderate British influence — it magnifies it. A strong Europe is not a threat to Britain’s global leadership; it enhances Britain’s global leadership,” he said in the article.
As you might expect, supporters of a Brexit have criticized Obama for butting into the affairs of their nation, most notably the mayor of London had this to say: “It is incoherent. It is inconsistent, and yes it is downright hypocritical…The Americans would never contemplate anything like the EU, for themselves or for their neighbors in their own hemisphere. Why should they think it right for us?”
But Obama wasn’t done pushing his globalist agenda on the British. Yesterday he delivered an economic threat to the UK during a conference with Prime Minister David Cameron. He said that “down the line” there could be a free trade agreement between the US and the UK, but added “It’s not going to happen any time soon, because our focus is on negotiating with a big bloc, the EU. The UK is going to be in the back of the queue.”
Tory Justice Minister Dominic Raab gave a scathing review of Obama’s rhetoric, and went so far as to call it “blackmail.”
He added: “We’ve got a lame duck president doing an old friend a favour for purely political reasons – and taking a few unnecessary risks, being a bit irresponsible with the special relationship between our two countries.
“You can’t say on the one hand that the relationship is essential and always will be, then say that if you don’t take my advice you’ll be at the back of the queue for a free trade deal. I don’t think the British people will be blackmailed by anyone but he’s entitled to give his view.
“What is good for US politicians is not necessarily good for the British people. The US would not dream of opening its border with Mexico, so it is hypocritical for President Obama to insist that we do the same with Europe.”
Little does he know that Obama would love nothing more than to have open borders with Mexico. He’s a globalist shill through and through, and has no respect for national sovereignty. Obama isn’t giving friendly advice to the British, nor is he simply speaking his mind. The president is threatening this country with economic isolation if they decide to leave the globalist club.
In fact, there’s no reason why the UK can’t negotiate its own separate free trade deal with America; one that is favorable to their interests, unlike the corporate fascist TTIP deal that Obama has been pushing with the EU. In a letter to Breitbart, A U.S. Customs and Border Protection official spelled out exactly what Obama is trying to do.
“This is the first time I’ve heard of the assertion that the UK is too small to have an FTA with the US… clearly the UK is not too small to have an FTA with the US if we have one with Oman.”
The official stressed: “Do be advised that FTAs are negotiated by the Executive Branch of the U.S., specifically by the United States Trade Representative (USTR) at the behest of the President”.
The e-mail therefore reveals that while Britain is not too small to have a free trade agreement with the United States, the policy of failing to want to implement one if Britain were to leave the European Union may be more of an ideological point impressed by President Obama.
A word of advice to the British. You should ignore this globalist hack. He speaks from a place of desperation, because nationalist sentiments are rising all over Europe and America. The globalist agenda is dying because it only serves the interests of the elites. You’d be better off backing out of the EU’s tyrannical system, even if you never get a free trade deal from the US.
