(Before It's News)

The Government’s new Snoopers’ Charter (also known as the Investigatory Powers Bill) will allow the bulk collection of all our personal information. Who we talk to, what we say, where we are, what we look at online – everything.

The Home Secretary claims this will make us safer – it won’t. Mass surveillance is ineffective in preventing serious crime.

We need targeted, not total surveillance. Join our campaign today, and we’ll make sure your voice is heard. Protect privacy AND security.

This video is 2 minutes long and WAY worth your time.  Please share everywhere!

We’ve said it, the tech experts have said it, even three Parliamentary committees have said it – the Investigatory Powers Bill isn’t fit for purpose. And yet the Government is ploughing ahead with a law that will make us all less safe, and less free.

Less safe – Does snooping on the entire population, regardless of suspicion, make us any safer? The case simply hasn’t been made. The Government is ignoring the evidence that we need targeted, not total surveillance.

Less free – The Investigatory Powers Bill (IP Bill) allows the Government to keep record of and monitor your private emails, texts and phone calls – that’s where you are, who you speak to, what you say – and all without any suspicion of wrongdoing.

It will force communications companies like Sky, BT, Google and Facebook to collect and handover detailed records of everything you do online. Details such as who you bank with, where your kids go to school, sexual preferences, who you are likely to vote for, your health worries – all of this will be logged, analysed and used to build an intimate picture of your life.

And this profile of you will not only be accessed by the Home Secretary. The new law allows police and government departments – such as the Department for Work and Pensions, HMRC – to access this personal information at the click of a button. There’s no opt-out, you don’t need to be suspected of anything, it will just happen to everyone, all of the time.

The Investigatory Powers Bill will make us less safe and less free. They don’t think you care, we think you do. Take action now.
