(Before It's News)

A good chap by the name of Yannick Read has a Kickstarter to raise money for his 150db “Bike Mine” which actually sounds less dangerous than what it is.

Read, a Londoner who happens to have two Guinness World Records to go along with his disgust of bike thieves, advertises his mine as “the ultimate deterrent against theft of your bicycle, motorbike, boat or jet ski.”

The whole set up looks like the old school tripflare or 12-gauge tripwire device that dates back generations. The Bike Mine incorporates a titanium wire and spring-loaded trap that you attach to your sweet Schwinn via velcro. When pulled by unsuspecting two-wheeler scoundrel, a saluting blank goes off, which presumably makes said scoundrel brown in the trousers and in search of easier prey.

Read has currently gathered $1,488 of his goal, which includes selling each Bike Mine for about $71 which includes the set up and three salutes.
