We teach little kids from the time that they are very small to dial 9-1-1 for an emergency. The sad part about this (besides possibly having your dog shot for no reason) is that, in an era where the majority of people are using cell phones, 9-1-1 can suffer an accuracy rate of just 10% on being able to correctly locate someone when they desperately need emergency services most.
The reality of this means that Facebook check-in and fast food ordering apps are actually more reliable at being able to locate you in an emergency than 9-1-1 which people typically only dial for an emergency.
