John McCain has scheduled a rally Friday morning — May 6 —at his local Phoenix office. It will feature a quartet of disappointing freshman GOP senators Joni Ernst (IA ), David Perdue (GA), Dan Sullivan (AK), and Cory Gardner (CO). (Click on their names to see their Conservative Review scores)
McCain’s choice of freshman Republicans speaks to the fact that those who know him best, like him least. Scheduling a rally in his office rather than a large venue makes it clear he knows he can’t generate a crowd.
McShadows Lindsey Graham and Jeff Flake must have been otherwise occupado. His reliable liberal Democrat Gang of Eight amnesty cohorts — Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Bob Menendez, and Michael Bennet, wouldn’t be prudent choices when he’s running for reelection.
It should be difficult to imagine an 80-year-old senator having the gall to run for another 6-year term, but McCain tells us he still has more work to do.
