Rearming Libyan Regime A Lunatic Scheme

As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton orchestrated the rape and pillaging of Libya.

She was deeply involved in transforming Africa’s most developed nation into a failed state – an endless cauldron of violence, instability, turmoil, deep poverty, mass unemployment and appalling human misery.

Libya’s so-called Government of National Accord wasn’t elected and has no legitimacy, a US-installed and controlled puppet regime.

Permanent Security Council members along with representatives of 15 other countries endorse lifting an arms embargo on the country in place since February 2011, solely for the US supported regime – on the phony pretext of combatting ISIS Washington and its rogue allies support.

Throwing arms at a nation awash in them assures greater violence and chaos than already. On Monday, an official communique said:

“The Government of National Accord (GNA) has voiced its intention to submit appropriate arms embargo exemption requests to the UN Libya Sanctions Committee to procure necessary lethal arms and materiel to counter UN-designated terrorist groups and to combat (ISIS) throughout the country.”

Libya’s GNA headed by US-installed puppet prime minister Fayez al-Sarraj isn’t recognized by most Libyans. The decision to rearm it has nothing to do with fighting ISIS, supporting democratic governance or protecting human rights – everything to do with Washington wanting Libya colonized, its oil and other resources stolen, its people exploited.

In December, rival Tripoli and Tobruck governments agreed to a UN-brokered Government of National Accord, a shaky alliance at best, short of endorsement by Tobruk’s parliament.

Gaddafi held Libya together. Various tribes and militias now run things in their own areas. Washington aided ISIS establish a foothold in Sirte, a gateway to major oil fields and refineries further east.

US, UK and French special forces have been operating illegally in Libya for months. Aerial operations are ongoing ahead of likely escalated fighting.

On the phony pretext of combating ISIS, Washington and its rogue allies appear readying to launch Libya 2.0 – without Security Council or congressional authorization, to advance US imperial aims at the expense of millions of long-suffering people.

Why Russia and China are going along with this scheme they need to explain. It’s reminiscent of UN Resolution 1973 all over again – adopted on March 17, 2011.

US-led NATO blitzkrieg followed. This time things will likely move slow-motion, the end result the same – greater devastation than already.
