On Thursday Soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) spent the afternoon distributing flags on all 230,000 grave markers in the cemetery.
The Flags-In detail ensures that each marker is adorned for its own dedicated flag to commemorate the service and sacrifice of each hero. More than 1,000 Soldiers from the nation’s oldest infantry regiment covered the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery in under four hours.
