Is Jeff McFlake supporting “rock star” Hillary?
Saying Donald Trump “was not my first choice nor my 17th choice,” Arizona’s junior Sen. Jeff Flake told viewers of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday. “He’s the nominee, and we’ll have to deal with that. I hope that he changes.”
Asked whether he would endorse Trump, Flake quickly replied, “No.”
“It’s uncomfortable not having endorsed the Republican nominee, I have to say. But I can’t at this point. I hope to be able to support the nominee. I certainly can’t right now.”
Flake had earlier endorsed his Gang of Eight amnesty clone Marco Rubio before that awkward campaign fell flat.
Jeff Flake knows all too well what it’s like to be a disappointment to those within your own party. He’s watched as his mentor John McCain was overwhelmingly censured by elected state committeemen at the annual Statutory Meeting of the State Committee of the Arizona Republican Party.
Arizona’s Channel 3 reported the results of a poll showing Flake ranked as the most unpopular Senator in the nation —- with ratings even lower than John McCain. Conservative Review grades both men with a bottom-dragging “F” as clicks on these links illustrate: Jeff Flake and John McCain.
And political opportunist Flake — also the object of a boo-vation — barely squeaked through, winning the senate seat by a razor slim 3% of the statewide vote. G.W. Bush’s former Surgeon General, Democrat Richard Carmona, never previously a candidate — presented a stark contrast, including a career encompassing military, medical and law enforcement, to Flake’s lobbyist past where he worked for a Namibian uranium operation with ties to Iran.
