President Obama’s Homeland Security chief said in an interview Tuesday that it has now become time for the cabinet-level department to get involved in gun control.
“We have to face the fact that meaningful gun control has to be a part of homeland security,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in an interview on CBS This Morning. “We need to do something to minimize the opportunity for terrorists to get a gun in this country.”
Johnson, speaking of the on-going investigation into the aftermath of the Orlando terror attack, voiced that the FBI– which falls under the Department of Justice and not Homeland Security– is “very good at what they do,” and routinely take down terrorist plots.
When pressed on gun control Johnson avowed he was “not anxious” to take on the topic, but “I do believe that meaningful, responsible gun control, is now part and parcel of Homeland Security. It’s critical to public safety.”

The gun control must be on the part of the USA’s gunsales, not grab our guns. We created ISIS, trained them, weaponized them and now they are the greatest threat to our citizen’s safetly. The ONLY protectio we have IS OUR GUNS, you dope! Had 1 conceled carry citizen popped of a well aimed shot, the Islamic terrorist would not have been able to slaughter innocent people for 3 FRIKKIN HOURS,!
I don’t see how he was allowed to continue spraying bullets for 3 hours…unless he was allowed to.
Yeah, we need our guns more than ever now. NRA is right. We are becoming culled.
I don’t own or have a gun but damned if I wouldn’t now.
Gun ownership GUARENTEES homeland security.
