An Orlando police officer who responded to the call about a mass shooting at The Pulse nightclub early Sunday morning is lucky to be alive and has his Kevlar helmet as proof.
The officer, who the department did not name, was one who became engaged in a shootout with the suspect and was apparently struck in the head. However, the officer’s helmet absorbed the impact of the bullet, leaving the helmet banged up and dented, a picture of which was posted to the department’s Twitter account.
