Crowds turn out for community BBQ with Wichita PD
With ever-growing tensions between law enforcement officers across the country and the communities they are sworn to protect and serve, local law enforcement in Wichita decided a community BBQ was in order – and the community responded.
The Wichita Police Department teamed up with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol to bring forth the First Steps Community Cookout at McAdams Park Sunday. Along with good food and fellowship was basketball and bouncy houses.
The WPD posted pictures and videos of the event on their Facebook page, which was – for the most part – met with a huge amount of positive feedback and some even suggesting other police departments take a hint from Wichita. Likewise, the Wichita Police Department was trending on Facebook Sunday night – for all the right reasons.
