Stevens introduced a semi-auto shotgun Thursday, the first for the gun maker known for affordable pump actions and over-and-under shotguns.

Stevens’ firearms marketing director Bill Dermody described the S1200 as the right balance of affordable and high-performance.

“Adding a series of semi-automatics to the roster gives shooters even more choices that are equally at home busting clays on the range or helping you enjoy banner days afield,” Dermody said.

The 12-gauge autoloader, dubbed the S1200, features an inertia-driven action, rotating bolt, a 3-inch chamber, a five-round capacity and an interchangeable Beretta choke system.

The Stevens S1200 measures in with a 26- or 28-inch ribbed barrel, 14.25-inch length of pull, and weighs 6.6 pounds. It’s available in black synthetic, walnut and full camo finish stocks.

Stevens lists retail price for the S12000 at $573 to $685 depending on options.
