Sacramento Black Rifle in Rocklin is going toe-to-toe with the city over a set of concrete highway barriers he has installed in front of his store’s doors to foil potential smash and grab burglaries which have been extremely popular with criminals in recent years.

The three K-rails, each some 4-tons in weight, were donated to SBR and shop owner Rob Adams says they are keeping his store safe, augmenting his already extensive security and camera systems.

“We took it upon ourself to put these barriers here to keep the guns out of the hands of criminals,” Adams told CBS Sacramento.

City zoning officials and Rocklin Police Chief Ron Lawrence are at odds with the decision which they feel encroaches on parking spaces and is not aesthetically pleasing.

“I understand the emotional reaction to plop down a cement barrier in front of the store to prevent this type of crime, but it sends the wrong message,” said Lawrence.

SBR is getting a lot of positive feedback and wants to let the public and their patrons know they appreciate the support.
