Clown Seen Trying to Lure Children Into South Carolina Woods
You might want to turn the lights on and lock the doors before reading this story, because you’re about to come down with the heebie jeebies. An ABC affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina reported on Sunday, that children at an apartment complex have seen a creepy clown lurking outside of their homes.
In recent years there have been multiple reports of pranksters in the US and the UK, who deliberately try to frighten their communities by standing around in clown costumes. This case however, doesn’t appear to be a publicity seeking prank. According to the kids who’ve seen him (it?), the clown was trying to lure them into the woods that border the apartment complex.
A parent of the one of these kids told ABC that she called the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office after her child told her what happened. “I thought my child was seeing things,” she said. “And then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say, ‘Did you see the clown in the woods?”
The management at Fleetwood Manor Apartments has issued a letter to their residents, which in part reads: “There has been several conversations and a lot of complaints to the office regarding a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing taking children or trying to lure children in the woods…At no time should a child be alone at night, or walking in the roads or wooded areas at night. Also if a person or persons are seen you are to immediately call the police. Greenville County Police Department is aware of the situation and have been riding the property daily.”
