Former office holders are also resurrecting themselves as endorsers
It’s the end run to Primary Election Day on Aug. 30. If you signed up for an early ballot it’s time to get it filled out and mailed to ensure it’s received and counted. This election is crucial on many levels. Our mailboxes are being flooded with flyers as are our email in-boxes. Squish Republicans are suddenly trying to convince us they are “conservatives,” which appears to be the operative word among slick RINOs trying to dupe us and garner votes they would not otherwise receive.
Among the oddest standouts are the endorsements that make us wonder what the enticement is. GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump and his VP running mate Mike Pence have taken time out of their busy schedule to endorse John McCain as he runs for another six-year senate term at age 80. They are joined by Gov. Doug Ducey, whose first job when he moved to Arizona to attend ASU was working for Cindy Hensley McCain’s Anheuser-Busch wholesale beer distributorship. The burning question is why are any of them going after Dr. Kelli Ward and asserting she has a “radical agenda,” while deceptively claiming John McCain is “conservative?”
Pence came to Phoenix in 2008 and while here endorsed a lifelong Democrat who had registered as a Republican five days before filing as a candidate for a state House seat. The newly minted Republican has not gotten better with time. Ducey appointed the ethically challenged dude with a propensity for wearing sun glasses indoors to head the Arizona Lottery and was forced to ask him to resign in short order.
A bunch of formers are getting in on the action. Lackluster former Secretary of State Ken Bennett, a longtime Prescott resident has been living in Phoenix and was chairman of LD 24 requiring residency in the district. He’s run unsuccessfully for several offices over the years and is now trying his luck running for Congress in CD1. Former U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl and former U.S. Rep. John Shadegg are climbing on his bandwagon in the district that mainly encompasses northern and eastern Arizona. With his politically motivated meandering, Bennett resembles a perennial job seeker without a core.
John McCain was censured by statewide elected officials within his own party, is funded by high dollar liberal PACs and radical leftist multi-billionaire George Soros. Yet he just sent out another whining email plea for more money to attack primary opponent Dr. Kelli Ward a family practice physician and former two-term (two years each) state Senator. The man who has hung his baseball cap on being an aisle-crossing maverick for decades has the gall to refer to himself as a “conservative.” Paul Ryan has sent out an email accusing the Dems of being “rubber stamps,” a position with which Ryan has more than a passing knowledge. He has sent out an email request for cash on behalf of McCain, claiming “all of the commonsense conservative legislation we pass” will be in jeopardy. Would that be McCain’s pet issue of amnesty for illegal invaders that Ryan also approves?
It’s not called the crazy season without cause. Remember to mark your ballot for Dr. Kelli Ward for the U.S. Senate. Read her bio, watch her video. Arizonans are fortunate to have someone of her caliber and background run for the U.S. Senate. Unlike McCain, Dr. Ward will never call Hillary Clinton “a rock star.” Unlike McCain, she fully supports our Second Amendment rights. It’s past time for a change. Your vote is your voice.
