Newly released video shows LAPD officer Richard Garcia kicking Clinton Alford shortly after he surrenders to other officers by laying on the ground.
The video was withheld for nearly two years following the October 2014 incident in South L.A. Clinton Alford’s family saw it for the first time on Monday.
“I just thank the good lord that they didn’t kill my son,” Alford’s mother told press. “He was on the ground defenseless.”
Garcia was charged with felony assault and entered a guilty plea in exchange for community service.
If he satisfies all the terms from the court, he can get the felony dropped to a misdemeanor.
If convicted, Alford faces a life term in prison for several charges, including pimping, unlawful sex with a minor, assault, kidnapping and human trafficking.
His lawyer said she’s going to push for a federal civil rights lawsuit.
