(Before It's News)

Blue bird on speech bubble
Hajjaj bin Fahd al-Ajmi, a religious leader in Kuwaiti, who has allegedly worked to finance muslim rebels in the Syrian Civil War has now become the first person to be served a lawsuit from the U.S. through Twitter.

U.S. Magistrate Laurel Beeler discovered al-Ajami’s Twitter account, and after being convinced that he still uses the account, decided to use it as the method of service most likely to reach him, and sent the service of process directly to his Twitter account.

However, this is not the first time it’s been done. In a 2013 case in Virginia, the Federal Trade Commission was allowed to serve notice on five suspected scammers in India. In a 2014 case in New York, a federal court allowed service of process by way of a  Facebook message a trademark lawsuit against a man from Turkey.

This is is likely to be turned on people in this country. How soon before bureaucrats start using social media as the primary means of enforcement?
