(Before It's News)

Remembering Ronald Reagan

On Wednesday we posted about defiant liberal mayors challenging President-elect Donald Trump on the issue of sanctuary cities, which provide safe havens for illegal foreign nationals. Our first example was Chicago mayor, Rahm Emanuel —- former chief-of-staff to Barack Obama —- boasting of his unwavering support (video) for illegals. Emanuel, who presides over a city with an astronomical homicide rate declares, “ Let’s be clear about what Chicago is. It always will be a sanctuary city. You are safe in Chicago. You are secure in Chicago. You are supported in Chicago.”

Now his “safe and secure city” which employs many undereducated, low-wage workers, will ensure chaos meets Thanksgiving travelers. Hundreds of O’Hare International Airport workers have voted to go on strike coinciding with the nation’s most traveled holiday. O’Hare is one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Although the circumstances are different, this incident brings to mind how President Ronald Reagan handled the serious situation that existed in 1981 when the nation’s air traffic controllers went on strike. He fired over 11,000 strikers who ignored his order to return to work within the 48-hour deadline he set for compliance with his order.
