Putting the (non-citizen) chickens in charge of guarding the (American) henhouse
It seems like an endless wait, but soon enough the Obama administration will be a thing of the past. We might want to forget that throughout the past eight years Barack Obama never gave up on fulfilling his campaign threat to “fundamentally transform the United States of America.” *
Yet not remembering what this country has been through sets up a repetition of the same. Corruption has been a hallmark of the Obama years.
We must never forget the nadir into which we have been plunged and the preposterous policies implemented — such as this:
Fox News reports that the Denver Sheriff’s Department was fined $10,000 for hiring only U.S. citizens. We couldn’t make this stuff up.
The Department of Justice released this press release titled “Justice Department Settles Immigration-Related Discrimination Claim Against the Denver Sheriff Department.”
From the Fox report:
The Denver Sheriff’s Department set out to hire scores of deputies last year to lessen the burden on its staff and cut millions in overtime.
It advertised for prospects, and included U.S. citizenship as a requirement. By this past spring, it had hired 200 deputies.
The Justice Department did not congratulate the agency –– instead, it slapped Colorado’s largest sheriff’s department with a $10,000 fine and a host of steps it must take to address what was described as discriminatory hiring.
In a summary of the settlement on its website, the Justice Department said that in insisting on citizenship, the Denver Sheriff’s Department violated an anti-discrimination provision in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that forbids employers from hiring only U.S. citizens except in cases where it is mandated “by law, regulation, executive order or government contract.”
