“Societal Collapse, Violence, Disorder”: You Won’t Believe Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day in Honor of the Election
Some people feel like the choice between Hillary and Trump is the literal embodiment of the South Park choice between a douche and a turd sandwich and that either one as president spells certain doom for the country.
In some ways it would appear that Merriam-Webster agrees.
On the dictionary’s official Twitter account, they have changed their featured “word of the day” header to the word Götterdämmerung.
What is that, you might ask?
Apparently it means, “A collapse (as of a society or regime) marked by catastrophic violence and disorder.”
