(Before It's News)

Faculty Row’s expert on government election law, David A. Schultz, says there is chance that the electoral college will say “No Trump” when they meet on December 17th, 2016. Schultz has accurately predicted the last seven presidents, including the Trump.

Donald Trump was elected President to the surprise of many. But it is not too late to reverse this outcome.

In a recent Huffington Post article, Schultz declares that it would not be unprecedented for the electoral college to cast their votes independently. “In voting independently,” he said, “the electors would be using their positions to vote in line with the sense of the people—in this case, following what the majority voted this past November, which is to make Hillary Clinton the next President of the United States.”

To understand why the presidential race was effectively reduced to only ten states, see Schultz’s recent book with Stacey Hunter Hecht,  Presidential Swing States: Why Only Ten Matter.

“So why should the electors not do what can and should be done, which is legal and ethical within the framework of the existing model, and vote for the popular candidate?”

David Schultz is a Professor at Hamline University’s Department of Political Science, where he teaches classes in public administration and state and local government. He also teaches election law, state constitutional law, and legal ethics at the University of Minnesota Law School.
