Doubts Trump’s pledge to build wall

Author, lawyer, and conservative political pundit Ann Coulter was on-board early as a committed Donald Trump supporter. As with many of us, illegal immigration rose to the top of her list. Coulter even wrote a book, “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!” — one of 11 that have made the New York Times best sellers list.

In her recent column, “How Trump could ruin his presidency,” Coulter quotes from Trump’s Phoenix immigration speech where he laid out his 10-Point Immigration Plan:

“To all the politicians, donors and special interests, hear these words from me and all of you today. There is only one core issue in the immigration debate, and that issue is the well-being of the American people.”

Many of us were among the thousands who stood in line for hours that Sept. 2016 day. We heard those words and cheered.

This is Ann Coulter’s recent tweet as it relates to Trump’s stance on the wall, and her lack of faith that he will follow through on his promise to build it and finally secure our border. There is no comfort in the fact that Vice President-elect Mike Pence said he and House Speaker Paul Ryan would be the ones spearheading the “illegal immigration” fix. Ryan is among the least trustworthy on the issue.

For an excellent exposé of Paul Ryan’s leftward lurch on the topic of criminal illegal aliens, American Thinker has a must read post, “When it comes to illegal immigrants, Paul Ryan sides with Democrats,” Author Catharine Evans calls Ryan’s disconnect from reality when it comes to illegals crossing our border and killing innocent Americans “staggering.” If you read nothing else today, this is post is deserving of your attention.

The equivalent would be reprising the disastrous “Gang of Eight” scheme with amnesty pimps, John McCain, Jeff Flake, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Marco Rubio & Co. We’ve been down this road before with numerous attempts going back to McCain, Jon Kyl and Ted Kennedy to saddle Americans with the device they called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.”

It’s time to hold Donald Trump’s feet to the fire.  In allowing Paul Ryan anywhere near this issue the honeymoon is doomed before the marriage begins on January 20, 2017.
