(Before It's News)

California’s Justice Department filed a notice Thursday withdrawing a proposal for an emergency ban on large capacity magazines.

State gun rights group, the Firearms Police Coalition, called the department’s move “welcomed news” for gun owners and those who challenged the proposed regulations banning magazine that hold 10 or more rounds.

The stoppage comes just over a week after the department opened a public commenting period allowing California residents to voice their opinions on the matter. FPC said it delivered thousands of letters written by people who opposed the measure.

The regulations, dictated by legislation passed over the summer, would have required owner of magazine that hold 10 or more rounds to either modify the magazines to limit their capacity or turn them in to participating gun store. Also, the proposal would have banned magazines grandfathered in by other state laws, unless they’re owned by law enforcement officers.
