According to Wikipedia, modern Flat Earth societies have been around since 1816, which was started by Samual Rothbotham.
Flat Earther’s believe in the following:
- Earth’s gravity is an illusion, they say. Objects do not accelerate downward; instead, the disc of Earth accelerates upward at 32 feet per second squared (9.8 meters per second squared), driven up by a mysterious force called dark energy.
- There are no such things as satellites. (They are towers).
- That Earth is a disc with the Arctic Circle in the center and Antarctica surrounds the Earth with a 150-foot-tall wall of ice, around the rim.
- The sun and moon are spheres measuring 32 miles (51 kilometers) that move in circles 3,000 miles
- Stars, they say, move in a plane 3,100 miles up.
- Other planets are flat, too, or don’t exist, or Earth isn’t a planet. (Main points of disagreement between Flat Earthers).
- NASA fakes everything.
- Some flat earthers say the Moon is either a flat disc, a hologram, projection, or a light in the sky

Earth is indeed round
Proofs that the Earth is indeed round or at least close to it. It is a bit chubby at the center.
Shadows & Sticks
If you stick a stick in the [sticky] ground, it will produce a shadow. The shadow moves as time passes (which is the principle for ancient Shadow Clocks). If the world had been flat, then two sticks in different locations would produce the same shadow. The do not because the earth is round and not flat. Eratosthenes used this principle to calculate the circumference of the Earth quite accurately.

Proving the Earth is not Flat – Part 1 – The Horizon
- Since the Earth is so big, you are not going to see the curvature of the Earth from an airplane. You will have to go at a very high altitude to start seeing the curvature of the Earth.

- Chicago – At a distance of 60 miles from the shores of Lake Michigan, according to the calculator, 2,166 feet will be below the horizon. And most of the time it is hidden, unless those certain conditions which produce the superior mirage.
- You can tell it’s a mirage, due to the distortions. Willis Tower is elongated, which shows that it is a mirage.
- There are videos online that show that this building is dancing around, which indicates that it is a mirage.
- Changing shapes and disappearing.
- **If the earth was flat, you would be able to see the buildings on any clear day and not when the conditions are right.

Proving the Earth is not Flat – Part 2 – The Stars
- The Helio-Centric model always us to accurately predict lunar and solar eclipses, conjunctions, and planetary alignments, etc to the minute and second.
- The Earth is tilted at 23.5 degrees all throughout it’s orbit around the sun, which causes seasons.
- In the northern hemisphere, we can see the North Star (Polaris). Magnitude 1.86 – 2.13. The sky rotates counter-clockwise.
- In the southern hemisphere, we can see Sigma Octantis (magnitude 5.42). The sky rotates clockwise.
- **The smaller the magnitude the brighter star.
The Flat Earth Model does not work.
Circumpolar stars – is a star that, as viewed from a given latitude on Earth, never sets (that is, never disappears below the horizon), due to its proximity to one of the celestial poles.
- Stars near the celestial equator change throughout the seasons.
- Why do stars remain relatively in the same position if the earth is rotating on it’s axis and on a 23.5 degree tilt, revolving around the sun, and the galaxy…the answer is at the 14 minute mark.
- Example Polaris 323 light years away and changes about 0.00000566 degrees in the sky in 6 months as the earth orbits the sun due to it’s immense distance away.

You cannot have stars rotate counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere and rotate clockwise in the southern hemisphere at the same time on the flat earth model. It is not possible.
Flat earthers believe there is no gravity. Instead, they believe that the disc of the earth is accelerating up at 32 feet per second squared driven up by a mysterious force called dark energy.
If this is true, then if you pointed a camera straight up at the northern hemisphere, time lapse photography would show something like this:

- Everyone on earth sees the same phase of the moon in the sky. If the moon was really 3,000 miles away this would not be possible.
- According to the flat earth model, those in Chile and those in America would see different features and phases of the moon by 90 degrees different from the other location. This is not the case. Everyone sees the same features and the same phases pretty much because it’s much further out.
- In the flat earth model, the Full moon would be seen for the northern observer and about half full for the southern observer.

9. Time Zones. It’s always daytime somewhere and nighttime somewhere else. That can’t happen on a flat earth.
