Savage Arms expands on A-Series with new 22 LR model

Aiming to give shooters more ammo options, Savage Arms has expanded its A-Series rifle line with a new, semi-auto rimfire rifle chambered in .22 long rifle.
Called the A22, this new long gun, like its sibling the A-Series Magnum, offers reliability and accuracy but with a modern feel.
Tipping scales at 5.63 pounds, the A22 offers a total length just over 41 inches. Utilizing a straight blowback design, the rifle’s 10-round, flush-fitting rotary magazine feeds a bevy of .22 ammo up into the chamber. If 10 rounds is just not enough, no worries, Savage partnered with accessories maker Butler Creek to increase round capacity with a 25-round, spring-fed aftermarket magazine.
The A22’s barrel is a 22-inch carbon steel design that is button-rifled for accuracy and rests on a black matte synthetic stock. Its receiver is machined using a single billet of case-hardened which is a departure from the traditional die-cast construction found on many rimfire designs.
The rifle is equipped with adjustable open steel sights, ready to be shot immediately after purchasing; however, the gun is also pre-drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
The A22 .22LR model also continues to offer Savage’s AccuTrigger, giving shooters the ability to fine-tune trigger pull to their liking.
Available now, the .22LR version retails for $281 — a bargain for rimfire fans on the hunt for a plinking or small game .22 LR set-up.
