…no, he's not dead.

Richard Melbourne, the man who dug up the (above) electrum cross inscribed PRO ANIMA ARTORIUS at St. Peter's Church at Caer Caradoc above Llanharan, Glamorgan, Wales, is not dead.

He was on the 1990 excavation team, and he's still alive to tell exactly how and where he found the cross attributed to King Arthur II from just before the Dark Ages.
