Man Fatally Shot While Violating Protective Order (Video)
A woman shot and killed her ex-boyfriend after he broke into her Nashville home Wednesday morning.
Stefanie Lopez obtained an order of protection against her former boyfriend, Laquentin Franklin, after he was convicted of domestic assault last month. But police say he ignored that order, showed up at her apartment, and kicked in the door around 8 a.m.
The two became engaged in a physical altercation, which awakened Lopez’s current boyfriend. He told police he saw Franklin head to the kitchen and grab a knife.
Lopez’s boyfriend positioned himself between the woman and Franklin as Franklin tried to get to her. Meanwhile, Lopez was able to grab a gun and shot Franklin.
When police arrived on the scene, Franklin was transported to the hospital where he died.
No charges are expected to be filed against Lopez.
