JERUSALEM — In the final weeks before President Obama leaves office, the United States has delivered a two-pronged diplomatic broadside against Israeli settlement building.
First, the United States acquiesced to a U.N. Security Council resolution calling on Israel to halt settlement activity. Days later, Secretary of State John F. Kerry delivered a speech blaming Israeli settlements for obstructing progress toward a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
