The alert level of Lanin volcano was raised to yellow by the Chilean National Geology and Mining Service (Sernageomin) after a swarm of 59 quakes in 45 minutes hit Lanin volcano on February 15, 2017.

According to the special report of volcanic activity, a simultaneous succession of volcano-tectonic seismic events (VT) and spasmodic tremor was recorded from 3:24 pm. This kind of seismicity is associated with movement of fluids inside the volcano.
