(Before It's News)

The National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch has increased the reward for a batch of ammunition stolen from a park in southern Oregon and released footage of a truck seen in the area.

Earlier this month the agency reported that “Thousands of rounds of rifle and pistol caliber ammunition” were removed from a locked headquarters building at Crater Lake National Park, in rural Klamath County. On Tuesday officials upped the reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the ammo theft from $1,000 to $5,000 and released the above footage of a pickup truck that was seen in the area around the same time the theft occurred.

Crater Lake National Park spokesperson Jennifer Evans said the ammunition was valued at $8,000 and the theft is being treated as a felony.

The 180,000-acre federal park is the only one in Oregon and is patrolled by a force of 10 armed law enforcement rangers. Crime is low in the area with the last major incident reported at the park being the attempted theft of a fee collection box at a park entrance over a two-day period last November. The alleged unsuccessful thieves in that caper were caught on surveillance video and are facing indictment. Prior to that case, a separate group of violators were arrested for illegally harvesting mushrooms last summer.
