NRA amps up the fear in video advertising LaPierre’s CPAC speech
The National Rifle Association has released a video announcing Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre plans to fight back against President Donald Trump’s opponents at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference.
In the video’s introduction comprised of clips showing Trump opponents using explosive rhetoric–such as Michael Moore calling Trump a “fascist” and Nancy Pelosi using the words “white supremacist” — LaPierre claims the “forces that conspired to keep Donald Trump out of the White House are coming together to sabotage his administration.”
The video then continues to show clips of Trump opponents rioting and fighting with police and includes the now infamous comment made by Madonna, who said last month she has “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”
The cleverly edited video escalates the fear in clip after clip until LaPierre reappears at the end to tell the audience, “Donald Trump will need every ounce of energy we can muster and he has no more powerful ally than the NRA.” LaPierre is scheduled to speak at CPAC on Feb. 24.
The NRA pumped $52 million into elections last year, contributing almost $30 million to then candidate Trump and the rest on Congressional seats. Republicans now control the White House and have a majority in both chambers of Congress.
