(Before It's News)

Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has called for a tax on robots to make up losses due to automation.

“Certainly there will be taxes that relate to automation. Right now, the human worker who does, say, $50,000 worth of work in a factory, that income is taxed, and you get income tax, social security tax, all those things. If a robot comes in to do the same thing, you'd think that we'd tax the robot at a similar level,” the billionaire said in an interview with news website Quartz.

Governments should tax corporations’ use of robots to at least temporarily gear down the spread of automation and to fund other types of employment, according to Gates …. https://www.rt.com/business

  • This is about the ONLY thing that Bill Gates has said lately that I agree with ! When most (or ALL) of the manufacturing , general labor jobs and service sector positions are gone , due to automation , who is going to be buying the products and paying for the services if almost no one has a job and the means to pay for these things ?!!! Also , where is the tax money going to be coming from to keep governments going if almost no one is (or can afford to) pay for anything and corporations aren’t making any money as a result ? At that point about the ONLY way to fund government would be to massively increase taxes on the rich (who wouldn’t be rich for long at THAT rate) and on the corporations (which wouldn’t be making any real profits any more) so the system would implode by eating it’s self alive !!! Has anyone at the top actually THOUGHT about this and really considered all of the very real implications ???
