Microbes up to 60,000 years old have been discovered by Scientists working in Mexico in a cave system called, wait for it…. HELL!
On top of that, instead of instantly cremating these ancient specimens, they actually had success in bringing some back to life!
With life being able to survive & thrive in such harsh, almost alien like conditions, on earth, it raises the potential for life on other planets. One candidate in the news again is the strange Ceres planet that was the centre of much talk last year after images showed an area glowing abnormally on the surface of the dwarf planet.
If there is microbial life in our own solar system, once you factor in the age of the universe, it seems ridiculous to think we are the only sentient beings in town!
In other strange science news, the wooly mammoth, not seen on earth for around 4,000 years is about to make a comeback! Scientists are splicing some of the mammoths traits with that of an elephant, via genetic engineering made possible with crispr-9 technology.
If this is what they are telling us in public, the mind boggles as what they are getting up to in secret away from the prying eyes of the public & regulatory bodies
