An iconic B-17 Flying Fortress got a new hangar during a ribbon cutting ceremony in Conroe, Texas, last week.

The ceremony, which was hosted by the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, was attended by several World War II veterans in addition to the Gulf Coast Wing of Houston and Stephan C. Brown, Commemorative Air Force President/CEO and operator of the B-17.

The ceremony also revealed the aircraft’s new paint job, which included new nose art.

The bomber will make her home at the General Aviation Services at the Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport where she will be tended to and taken care of by a group of volunteers from the CAF Gulf Coast Wing. The aircraft will serve to honor those who fought during World War II and will also act as an educational tool for the public.
