For many on the outside looking in, the newly purposed House bill H.R.610 looks like a win for homeschooling families and their supporters. It looks like those who have been unable to afford private, or homeschooling will now be given this option. So, why are these people opposed to the bill?
School vouchers created by H.R. 610, the Choices in Education Act of 2017, “would be a slippery slope toward more federal involvement and control in homeschooling,” asserts William Estrada, director of federal relations for the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). Is Estrada correct? Can this favorable bill be used by a future hostile left to control and maintain the homeschoolers?
