Traditions Performance Firearms boasts a new muzzleloader called the Vortek StrikerFire Backcountry, introduced to consumers Monday.
The new rifle houses similar features to the Vortek StrikerFire series but flaunts a 26-inch Chromoly barrel. The updated barrel length makes this gun maneuverable and lightweight, perfect for long hunts where size matters.
Designed for backcountry shooters, this muzzeloader weighs in at 5.8 pounds. According to the company, the barrel length and weight on the new Vortek series makes it perfect for small-framed shooters.
The gun is equipped with Traditions’ patented StrikerFire system which features no external hammer. To cock the gun, shooters slide the striker button forward into the locked position, cocking the rifle. Recessed de-cocking buttons provide quick de-cocking. Due to the lack of an external hammer, the Vortek StrikerFire Backcountry is able to provide faster locktime and the ability for mounted optics.
The rifle also claims a competition-style, two-stage trigger set at 2 pounds in the Tac2 Trigger System. The triggers offers an upgraded feel compared to most muzzeloading triggers. A Stow-N-Go Removable Butt Pad also gives shooters a little storage while on the hunt.
Coated with a nitride finish to resist rusting, corrosion and pitting, the new Vortek series starts at $566.
