A New York cop has been arrested and charged after police say he was peeking into bedroom windows with a flashlight and then exposing himself.
On Monday, police announced that NYPD detective Robert Francis, who has been on the force for 17 years, has been charged in incidents dating back to February in Nassau County, Long Island, reports NBC.
Robert Francis, 46, admitted he exposed and fondled himself in the backyards of Rockville Centre residences on four separate occasions – three in February, and one on March 24.
Investigators say Francis admitted committing similar acts in Queens, Brooklyn, Suffolk County, and in other areas of Nassau County over the past year.
Francis is charged with creeping into the young women’s backyards and driveways – while naked from the waist down -and using a flashlight or forehead light to get their attention. He would then expose himself and masturbate.
He was taken into custody Saturday after a resident reported a suspicious person in their yard.
Authorities say three of Francis’ victims were under the age of 16, so he is also being charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The fourth Rockville Centre victim is said to be 17.
Francis, who worked at the 71st Precinct in Crown Heights, has been suspended without pay.
