Sweden wises up — too late?
Sweden, a liberal Scandinavian nation, is having more than second thoughts regarding its laissez-faire acceptance of those claiming refugee status flooding the previously homogeneous country in recent years.
With the influx of “refugees” and so-called “migrants” from the Balkans, Turkey, North Africa and the Middle East, Sweden’s Muslim population, which chooses not to assimilate, has swelled by hundreds of thousands. Syrian, Iraqi, Iranian, Somalis and Afghanis add to that religious mix.
Sweden’s Prime Minister has vowed his country will “never go back” to recent levels of mass migration after it emerged the terrorist who killed four people in a truck attack was a Muslim asylum seeker whose application was rejected.

The U.K.’s Daily Mail details the terrorism perpetrated by Uzbekistan native Rakhmat Akilov, 39, who deliberately drove a 30-ton hijacked beer truck into pedestrians on Stockholm’s main shopping street and into the side of a department store Friday afternoon — murdering four and injuring fifteen others. Today he confessed to committing the heinous act of terrorism.
The act of cowardice was a copycat of the attack carried out in London last month, when Khalid Masood killed four pedestrians and injured dozens more with a Hyundai 4×4. Swedish police said there were clear similarities. Similar “low tech” attacks have been carried out in France and Germany.
Following the carnage, Prime Minister Stefan Lofven pledged to change Sweden’s liberal attitude, insisting the massive influx allowed during the 2015 migrant crisis will never happen again.
“Sweden will never go back to the [mass migration] we had in autumn 2015, never,” Prime Minister Lofven said on Monday. “Everyone who has been denied a permit should return home,” he naively stated. Swedish authorities gave Akilov four weeks to leave Sweden after his final asylum appeal failed in December. He was being sought by police and immigration officials for deportation –– but evaded them by simply giving a false address.
Unfortunately, the horse is already out of the barn. Muslims have large families. At 1.6 births per Swedish woman, the ethnic Swedes are not even replacing themselves. The low birthrates are the same throughout Europe, the U.S. and Canada. Pew Research has the sobering current and projected worldwide population numbers.
