Rescued From The Storm
A 70-year Louisiana old man and his four dogs found themselves trapped in the attic of their home after a levee broke during the recent Hurricane Isaac rampage.
The National Guard brought out their axes and rescued Fred Leslie and his four terrified dogs. As rescuers were grabbing the dogs from their flooding attic through the air vent, one frantic dog reportedly jumped into the rescuers arms.

Since hurricane Isaac was labeled a Category One hurricane, many residents of Leslie's neighborhood chose to remain in their residence despite evacuation orders. Category One hurricanes typically pose threat buildings or structures, but in Isaac's case, the hurricane was strong enough to flood over a one-mile stretch of levee. Leslie reportedly lost his prior home seven years ago to Hurricane Katrina.
As of this writing, 28 shelter dogs have been rescued from the ravages of Hurricaine Isaac and are currently up for adoption. To find more information on how you can adopt a dog rescued from Hurricane Isaac, visit Northeast Animal Shelter.
