Watch New Caledonian crows manufacture and use tools, sneaky chickens deceive others by taking their perspective, young chicks who can count and perform addition and subtraction with small numbers, and magpies use alarm calls for specific predators. Birds clearly make causal inferences and are extremely intelligent. Being called a birdbrain is indeed a compliment.
